Be Still My Soul

Do you ever feel like you are going through life like a hamster on wheel??  That’s kind of what I feel like now.  I have a million things running through my mind, and a to-do list that never ends.  There is so much noise, movement, and technology that never ends!

This morning as I was getting ready for the day, I heard this beautiful old hymn, “Be Still My Soul”.   It was so refreshing to my spirit.  Many times God’s Word tells us to be quiet or be still, and know Him.  We only need to be still and remember that He is in control.  He has been faithful in the past and He will continue to be faithful in the future!

1 Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2 Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

3 Be still, my soul: the hour is hast’ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

(Written by Katharina Von Schlegel in 1752, and still relevant today.  Amazing!)
