Do you enjoy washing dishes??  When we I was young, we didn’t have a dish washer in our house.  In fact, I was convinced that one of the main reasons my parents had 4 children was so that we could wash the dishes for them.  🙂

The other day I came across an interesting article that caught my eye,
“9 Health and Life Benefits of Hand Washing your Dishes”.   http://theheartysoul.com/wash-dishes-hand-benefits/?t=JERF
Some of the main points were :
– It encouraged Mindfulness
– Reduces Stress and Relaxes You
– Boost Immune System
– Teaches Independence to Kids
– Better for Delicate Dishes
– More Time with Family
– Uses Less Water/Energy

There you go…… who knew that washing dishes was good for you?  🙂

We I was little, my family sang a song called “Thank God for Dirty Dishes”……
“Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a tale to tell.
While other may go hungry, we’re eating very well.
With health, and food, and happiness, we must not fret nor fuss,
By the stack of evidence, the Lord’s been good to us!”

Now, many years later, I have my own house and family, and we still don’t use a dish washer.  I don’t always ‘enjoy’ washing dishes, but when I do, I try to take a moment to be mindful and thank God for the many blessing that I have.  Dirty dishes mean that we have the blessing of food…… some people don’t!

Faith Is The Victory!

This week I heard a lecture on I John. I John 5:4 says, “because everyone who is born from God has overcome the world. Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world.”

When I heard this verse, it reminded me of an old hymn that I sang as a child.  It’s a beautiful song and now that I’m older, the words are much more special and have a totally new meaning……

“Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise,
And press the battle ere the night
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below,
Let all our strength be hurled;
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world.

Faith is is the victory!
Faith is is the victory!
Oh, glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.

His banner over us is love,
Our sword the Word of God;
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith they, like a whirlwind’s breath,
Swept on o’er ev’ry field;
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

On ev’ry hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array;
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray;
Salvation’s helmet on each head,
With truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble ‘neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

To him that overcomes the foe,
White raiment shall be giv’n;
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in heav’n.
Then onward from the hills of light,
Our hearts with love aflame,
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus’ conqu’ring name.”
