The past week was a difficult one for our family. Nothing major, just life circumstances. Last night a dear friend prayed a special prayer over our family. She prayed that we would stand still and see God work in our lives. It was a beautiful prayer that was so timely and meaningful! Those words that she prayed brought to my mind an old southern gospel song that I haven’t heard for years….

Stand Still And See His Glory

Verse 1
STAND STILL AND SEE HIS GLORY
WATCH AS HIS MYST’RIES UNFOLD
BASK IN THE SWEETNESS OF PURE LIVING WATERS
REFRESHING, REVIVING THE SOUL
Chorus
STAND STILL AND SEE HIS GLORY
HALLELUJAH ‘TIS WONDROUS
HIS VICT’RIES AND TRIUMPHS
STAND STILL, YE PEOPLE BE SILENT AND SEE HIS GLORY
HALLELUJAH, HIS GLORY, HALLELUJAH
STAND STILL AND SEE HIS GLORY
Verse 2
ALL HAIL HIS INFINITE WISDOM
NONE IS SO MIGHTY AS HE
MASTER, CREATOR OF ALL THINGS ENDURING
NONE ELSE IS SO PRECIOUS TO ME
Chorus
STAND STILL AND SEE HIS GLORY
HALLELUJAH ‘TIS WONDROUS
HIS VICT’RIES AND TRIUMPHS
STAND STILL, YE PEOPLE BE SILENT AND SEE HIS GLORY
HALLELUJAH, HIS GLORY, HALLELUJAH
STAND STILL AND SEE HIS GLORY
(Writer: Dottie Rambo)

Many times in the Old Testament we read of God telling His people to stand still and let Him fight their battles for them, or stand firm and see the deliverance God will bring.

Often (in my human nature) I try to “fix’ my own problems, when really, God just wants me to rely on HIM.  It’s my prayer and my desire that I stand still and see God’s glory!
