I recently heard the quote, “Music somehow makes the journey go better”.   I know this is definitely true in my life!  Psalm 63:7 says, “Because You are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.”

This past Sunday was Easter, it was also the 2 year anniversary of T1D diagnosis for our son.  After 2 years, most of our days go smoothly now, but other days can be a bit ‘bumpy’.   I have often found that on those bumpy days, God will give me a song to praise Him with.  One of the hymns that has ministered to me this past year is “Day by Day”. (I’ve often looped it on my phone)  😉

1 Day by day and with each passing moment,
strength I find to meet my trials here;
trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
gives unto each day what he deems best–
lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
mingling toil with peace and rest.

2 Ev’ry day the Lord himself is near me
with a special mercy for each hour;
all my cares he fain would bear, and cheer me,
he whose name is Counselor and Pow’r.
The protection of his child and treasure
is a charge that on himself he laid;
“As your days, your strength shall be in measure,”
this the pledge to me he made.

3 Help me then in ev’ry tribulation
so to trust your promises, O Lord,
that I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
offered me within your holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
e’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
one by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
’til I reach the promised land.

The past 2 years have not been easy, but I am so thankful for “God’s special mercy for each hour”.  Even though this isn’t the story that I would have chosen to write for our son, I’m beginning to learn that God writes the best stories,….. time for me to hand over the pen, and trust Him for the next chapter!  😉
